Sorry I don't have any constructive suggestions here. We need more of such suggestive constructions of humility like this around here. A bunch of swaggering know-it-alls, we are...mostly. *** rib

I was already fairly competent on several other instruments when I took up the guitar, so learning from Parkening's book without a teacher may have been easier for me than it would be for you.  (On the I think you miss the point concerning what it means to learn to play the guitar. Just becuae you can read your way throught Parkening's book, doesn't mean you've really learned anything. It is the extremely rare individual that can learn to play any instrument from book, especially one that contains almost no significant information. ***************************************************** Kent Murdick New Free Guitar Instruction CD/Video. It is the extremely rare individual that can learn to play any instrument from book, especially one that contains almost no significant information. Why, thank you, Kent. Will (still blushing)

I guess maybe Will skooted serendipitously into that gap between Lutemann's 'almost' and Lutemann's 'no significant information', struck a swollen vein. This is not to insinuate that Lutemann doesn't mean well. He's just a rough taskmaster from a medieval guild. *** rib

On a more topical note, Two glasses of different sizes sit on a table. From the standpoint of their function as glasses, the important thing is not whether one is larger or smaller, but rather that both are full. As we elongate and fatten the size differential, the important thing to me is not whether they are full, but which one I shall select to house my tropical fish, which to protect my sewing finger. What you describe is big-D Desire, not small-f function! *** rib
