Go to a store and see where the men are hanging out. This would be all the way in the back of the store. They put the mens stuff there so they will have to take the wife and kids past womens stuff and toys. So check out hunting/camping/fishing. Automotive, Hardware. The highest density of men per square foot will be found in Stereo/TV/Electronics... [snip] This does, of course, assume one's male SO follows this standard stereotype.

DH wouldn't really care for a big screen TV, as he doesn't watch TV often and we already have more TVs than we need since we inherited one from a relative. He's not really into tools or hanging around hardware stores, either. After a long trip to Montana in his 20's where it rained for weeks on end, he's sworn never to go camping again.. *laughs* Now, a CD p_layer_ for the car would be appreciated, snacks and candy less so since he usually tries NOT to snack. DH's favorite gifts tend to be books, gift certificates to bookstores, CDs from his favorite artists, etc. But for Valentine's Day, we tend to skip the individual presents to each other and have a nice dinner at home or go out to eat. DH _loves_ food.

Basically, I think the idea of men gifts or women gifts are of limited use. I'd prefer a gift certificate to a bookstore to several dozen roses and a box of chocolates. Heck, I'm weird, I'd prefer a gift certificate to a gourmet grocery store, cookware store, etc. rather than flowers and candy. Many husbands might be in the doghouse for buying their wife a skillet for Christmas. I loved it. You just have to go on a case by case basis... Ariane
